Everyday Ride

Anders "Nesse" Nilsson thought it might be fun to learn how to forge and weld aluminum whenever he had some spare time. What began as a simple experiment quickly evolved into building an entire bike, originally intended as his daily ride. But that plan changed as well. This summer, the bike mostly saw action on the flat track - because Nesse loves speed, whether it's riding fast or working fast.

Regular readers of the Evil Monkey might already be familiar with Anders “Nesse” Nilsson, the guy with roots in both Småland and Gothenburg.
Previously, we showcased his Plyma rod, a project Nesse modestly referred to as a quick fix. During the pandemic, however, spending considerably more hours at home left him feeling restless, prompting him to pick up a new skill.
“Forging aluminum seemed like a useful thing to learn” Nesse said..

It began with crafting a fuel tank, then grew into fabricating a rear fender. When the bike got a new engine and the oil tank no longer fit, he simply made another one. And so it continued: sleek controls, an extended transmission cover that neatly hides the battery, an unmistakable cow’s head, and a gravel-resistant cover for the headlight. Naturally, even the speedometer got its own custom housing. Given the bike's registration year of '79, features like turn signals were mandatory but Nesse elegantly solved this requirement as well.
Since he was already deep into the modifications, Nesse seized the chance to tweak the frame and rake the triple tree by two degrees, ideal geometry for the track, even if he hadn’t fully planned it that way from the start. The final result is uncompromising, raw, and purposeful. Take a closer look, and you'll notice a carefully considered, wave-like line flowing seamlessly through the entire build. Did we mention it's geared for racing, even if racing wasn't the original intent?
“I’m damn happy with it, even though it wasn’t built specifically for the track,” Nesse admitted.
Those who know Nesse understand well enough that no matter what project he takes on, his ultimate goal is always more speed, even if he occasionally tries to deny it.
